Cultural Interventions for organisations

Rationale

The corporate world is becoming increasingly competitive and sophisticated here in T&T, but technology only goes so far to increasing productivity. Trinidad and Tobago workers must now be equipped with the communication skills to engage on a global stage with cultures even more diverse than those found at home.

Critical to the success of any corporate entity is the well being, motivational level and commitment of staff members. While some workers are naturally socially intelligent and therefore have the capacity to adapt to all situations and scenarios, training is one very essential way to bring all members of a company’s workforce to an understanding company culture. Professionally and personally, the enhancement of a sense of self and the boost in confidence are necessities for the boosting of productivity. The training experience is therefore a key way to build team spirit and ultimately boost the productivity of the workforce.

Expected Training Outcomes

  1. Enhanced employee interaction, commitment and productivity
  2. Staff enrichment
  3. Conflict resolution techniques
  4. Management motivation

Technique and Methodology

At the root of theatre is communication, verbal and non-verbal forms. Important too is the way that the actors interact with the space they are given.
Idakeda has successfully used theatre techniques, particularly popular theatre methodologies, for cultural interventions to boost morale, encourage team building and as a catalyst for behavioural change.

In the corporate training environment, some of these techniques are already well established. Role-play and team building exercises, borrow heavily from the theatre. Additionally, the process of engaging the human resources of a corporate entity through cultural formations common to all levels of staff, immediately creates improved internal communications and provides a basis for discussion and conflict resolution.

Idakeda offers novel and innovative ways of training using the following techniques:

  1. Popular theatre methodology
  2. Traditional carnival character methodology and
  3. Storytelling

Our methods are intended to:

  1. Use traditional Theatre in Education methodologies to help managers and staff explore and work through difficulties in interactions across different levels of staff
  2. Act as a catalyst for dialogue between managers and staff
  3. Present positive alternatives to negative behaviour
  4. Enhance employee morale and boost company productivity
  5. Provide a template for goal setting and problem solving
